SUPERVISION:
The Nursery Attendant can expect to receive requests and feedback from multiple sources, including the Pastor(s), the Spiritual Formation Core, Personnel Committee, and parents of children in our church. The direct supervisor for this position is the Pastor. Since the duties of the Nursery Attendant primarily occur while the Pastor is engaged in worship services, partnership and a good working relationship with spiritual formation core, and/or the personnel committee.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred:
- Experience working with young children and infants in a church setting
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Completed coursework in early childhood education or human development
- Experience providing care for infants and young children
- enjoy working with and encouraging young children
- punctual and reliable
- Up to date First Aid and Infant/Child CPR certification (or willingness to obtain) and child abuse clearances, criminal background check and fingerprinting.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Arrive by 9:00 AM on Sunday mornings to ready the Nursery, and remain until all children have been picked up by their parents and the room is cleaned up. In the rare event that no children are present, the Nursery Attendant is expected to tend to the needs of the room (cleaning, organizing, assessing the status of toys, etc.) or provide assistance during WOW Kids (a program during worship for children ages 3 through 1st grade)
- We occasionally have need for childcare at times outside of Sunday mornings. As these opportunities arise, a pastor will ask if you are interested in working these extra events (though it is not required that you say yes).
- Welcome children and parents to the Nursery.
- Engage children in activities and keep children comfortable and safe.
- Change diapers and assist with toileting as needed. As per our Safe Church policies, one adult should not be alone with one child behind closed doors, even when toileting.
- Provide snack if necessary, ensuring any children with allergies are safe.
- Children's actions will be guided by positive reinforcement and redirection. Our Pastor and a church volunteer are available to help provide additional support and tools for discipline, as needed.
- Clean and straighten the room after all children are gone.
- Secure adult volunteers (congregation members) to assist in nursery as needed. Work with other staff to create a monthly schedule and arrange for substitutes when necessary.
- Notify Pastor or spiritual formation representative soon as possible in case of illness, personal emergency, or request for unpaid vacation. The position includes 4 Sundays of unpaid time off.
- Complete and turn in weekly time sheet.
- Assure toys are for proper ages and in good repair.
- Create and maintain an organization plan for toys.
- Clean and sanitize room, toys, and dishes as needed.
- Check supplies and notify Pastor of needs.
- Maintain communication with supervisor(s) regarding Nursery concerns/issues.
SUPERVISION:

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Employed on an annual basis
- Evaluated at least annually by the Pastor, Personnel Committee, and Spiritual Formation Core representative
- Compensation and benefits as established by Church Council
- Resignation notice is to be submitted in writing to the Pastor and Personnel Committee at least four weeks in advance of scheduled departure date.
