    Christmas Eve Services

    Mt. Zion will once again be having three Christmas Eve services on Wednesday, December 24th.

    • Our 3 PM is a traditional service, and often our most well-attended service.
    • Our 7 PM is a family service with many of Mt. Zion’s children and youth participating in the service!
    • Our 10 PM service is a more contemplative and quiet service.

    We hope you will choose the service that is most comfortable for you and that you will celebrate the birth of our Savior!

    Plum Creek Christmas Donations

    We will be collecting Bingo prizes and Christmas cards for Skilled Care and Personal Care residents at Homewood at Plum Creek again this holiday season. If you are purchasing Christmas cards, please do not seal them so they are easier for our residents to open. If you are donating BINGO prizes, the residents enjoy chocolate, single serving snack items, small holiday trinkets for all seasons, word search puzzles, small stuffed animals, and Dove bar soap.

    Please get all items to Doris Loucks, who will have a collection area in the back narthex, by December 5th, 2025. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity!

    York New American Welcome Center Donations

    The local YWCA’S & YMCA’S York New American Welcome Center who help families resettle in our area. They help with English as a second language, with filling out paperwork, schooling and jobs.

    We received information that the local Haitian community who arrived in 2021 is in dire need of assistance. They are refugees whose Temporary Protected Status was revoked, which means they lost their ability to work in the USA. Because they are not allowed to work many of their basic needs are not being met.

    We would like to collect items during the month of July, so when you shop each week, please pick up a few items to share.

    Donations needed:

    • Shelf-stable items (rice, beans, and so on);
    • Toiletries (shampoo, body lotion, diapers, sanitary supplies);
    • Cleaning supplies (dish detergent, laundry soap)

    Place donations on the table in back of narthex. Contact Nancy Sleeger at 717-266-4668 with any questions.

    Mr. Sandy’s Quarterly Casseroles

    At the last Mr. Sandy’s Food Run, Sandi was asked if there was anything else she needed. Her response was any kind of 9×13 casseroles baked and frozen. At the Ridgerunners Town Hall, it was decided that we will provide 8 casseroles every quarter. The first delivery is June 22nd.

    Thank you to everyone who signed up and took pans! We had them all taken in just one Sunday!!!

    A reminder to everyone who took pans, please bring the baked, frozen casseroles to the church kitchen, and them put in the refrigerator or freezer on June 22.

    Community Aid Partnership

    As a reminder, we have a partnership with Community Aid where we received credit for items donated under our partnership number: 20053.

    When you donate items to a community aid store, you can either tell our partner number to the staff member assisting you or staple it on the outside of the bag. With our partnership, we also receive Care Cards to give to individuals in need and can also be eligible for applying for emergency grants.

    Facebook Update

    In order to be in compliance with Facebook guidelines, we are moving our Mt. Zion Friends from the main page to a group. We are planning to have this page up and running by Advent, around December 1st. At that time, we will stop posting to our friends page and we will only be posting content for friends in the group. We ask that you join this group so that you can continue to receive updates from Mt. Zion!

    Our business page where we host our streaming services and post more general information about the church will remain available.

    You can request to be a part of the group here.

    Scam Warning — Text Messages Masquerading as Pastor Amy

    Unfortunately, we were made aware that a scammer has been asking for gift cards or a favor using Pastor Amy’s name. They have been sending text messages in which they ask you to buy the gift cards and then send them the barcode for the gift card. As a reminder, Pastor Amy has not given out her cell phone number, so you will not be receiving text messages from her.

    If you ever question the legitimacy of a text or an email from a staff member or something that just doesn’t seem quite right — please call the church office to verify.

    Though our church is blessed to have members who are generous with their time, talent, and treasure, the staff takes great care to be specific in our communications if we are asking for assistance with a ministry in the church, so vague texts and emails are a good signal that it is fraudulent. In addition, we will NEVER ask you to purchase gift cards and send us the numbers electronically. When in doubt, verify by contacting us directly.

    We don’t know why people do these kinds of things. It is frustrating and takes away from the real good that can be done. Thanks for your vigilance and care, friends.

    We are sorry for the inconvenience.
